Andy, the reason we use DominoEx for NBEMS instead of PSK250, 125, or 63, is that noise spikes will pull the frequency in the absence of a signal because they look like a signal to the AFC. DominoEx uses no AFC and can be mistuned half the mode bandwidth and still copy. PSK250 works OK on VHF FM where there are very few noise spikes, but on HF, we have found it does not work well except perhaps in the winter when the noise levels, and especially static levels, are low.
Hold down CTRL while you roll the mouse wheel and are pointing to the waterfall, and you can reduce the capture range of the AFC on fldigi. That may help. The bandwidth cursor will change size as you roll the wheel. 73 Skip KH6TY Andy obrien wrote: > With Alpha versions up to AQ, both Linux and Windows XP, the position > on the waterfall (in PSK250 mode) stills wander up and down by several > hundred Hz despite my settings to keep within 20 Hz (General and Mail) > .
