Season's Greetings!
When I use FLRig as a stand-alone application, I find that when I open
the program it sets the rig in a different mode than before it was
running. Apparently there is some kind of "cleanup" activity which is
sending a control code to the radio. A similar thing happens when I
exit the program. I would prefer that when FLRig opens and closes it
leave the radio unchanged, but simply poll the radio.
I've had this going back to last July. It seems to be specific to some
Yaesu models. When flrig exits, it sends a mode change to CWR on my
FT-857D & 897D radios. When flrig starts, it resumes the last mode it
was in at shutdown. No change to behavior with/without Fldigi running.
I'm running Windows XP Pro, SP3, all latest updates, with the PC
connected to a Yaesu FT-100D, and FLRig 0.9.97, 2.7 GHz Celeron CPU, 1
GB RAM.
Does the same behavior on Win7,Vista,XP,W2K,Ubuntu, and Puppy Linux.
Aces for cross platform consistency!
Well, the way it is supposed to work:
1) flrig reads the current mode and bandwidth from the transceiver
2) flrig sets the saved last mode and bandwidth
3) on exit flrig restores the settings read in 1)
It works that way on my TenTec ArgoV, the Yaesu FT-450 and the Icom
IC-746Pro. That tells me that you are seeing something specific to the
FT857D / 897D transceivers. I'll look at the support code.
