With regard to the RTTY modem, I observe that during selective fading (loss of mark, but not space, or vice-versa -- very obvious on the cross-scope), the modem outputs garbage.
In my own designs, when one of the tones is lost (below a ratio), I switch to a mark-against-noise or space-against-noise scheme and usually can recover the signal effectively if the remaining tone is half decent. Does the fldigi RTTY modem have this capability? If not, could it be considered a feature request? selective fading on 850 hz RTTY is quite often profound. --Ben --AA7AS
