ARQ is fine and well on a one to one connection. We use MT63 1k long on HF and MT63 2k long on VHF/UHF FM with great success using wrap. The big advantage is that an unlimited number of receiving stations can all receive from a single transmission and independently extract and verify the messages.

By the way, as an addition to my previous comments about flmsg and the
ARRL format message and handling messages.

We have also tried to get an HF digital net using sound card modes
here in Colorado. But, I've been unsuccessful in getting everyone
that's interested to use fldigi and its related programs. So far,
they seem satisfied to use PSK-31 (ugh!) and/or MT63. As you all
know, MT63 is fairly good, but it's NOT an ARQ mode. I'll keep
trying. :-)
