The key is that the macro inserts the "^X" or the "^x" into the transmit
text buffer at the position of the tag. Nothing happens until the
transmit cursor reaches that point in the text. It does not occur at the
time of the macro button press.

But it is sending everything up to the ^X or ^x. I assumed the tag was
to clear the TX pane prior to sending a macro. But this is how the new
tag was explained at first ::
So I will make my contest macros do this:
> <CLEARTX><TX>...
> before they launch into the exchange, return, etc.

So my testing was based on this as I'm sure Dick's was also.
Maybe at some point I'll see the need for this, but for now it makes no
sense to me.
