I used fldigi-3.22.0AT for most of the CW-WW-RTTY contest and finished with the newly released fldigi-3.21.15 toward the end of the contest. No crashes as you described but I do not use a macro timer. I assume you are talking about a macro that repeats the same command, like a CQ TEST etc., over and over with some delay. I just use a CQ macro and mouse on the macro to resend it agin. QSL on your comment that fldigi only take a few seconds to quit and restart. This is useful and used when strange things start to happen. Yes, many fldig users set the sweet spot to 1500 Hz to center the Rx signal to the "fixed" filters in their rigs for better decoding; however, this may not be the best sweet spot for Tx. As a test use your fldigi "QSY" button to center your rig's VFO to where you want to operate. The QSY button centers your Rx and Tx at the defined sweet spot. Now transmit and monitor you output to see if you transmitted signal sounds right. Now mouse to the left side of the waterfall, but DO NOT use the QSY button. Transmit and listen to your signal. Then do the same on right side of he waterfall. You will probably notice a pitch change in the your Tx. When I was using 1500 Hz as the sweet spot, my Tx signal sounded better to me when I used 1000 Hz as the sweet spot. By sounding better I mean my transmitted RTTY signal sounded more like what recalled as normal FSK signal. The same applies to PSK and CW transmissions. For this reason I now use 1000 Hz as my sweet spot and I have adjusted the "variable" TS-590's Rx filters to accordingly. When I engage the The TS-590's filters, all signals outside the bandwidth are blanked.I can change the bandwidth on-the-fly depending on congestion. If I see a signal I want to work on either side of the sweet spot on the waterfall, I mouse on the signal, use the "QSY" button to move the signal (and VFO) to the sweet spot. My Rx and Tx are now in sync using the really cool "QSY" button W1HKJ incorporated into fldigi. For S&P operation I use the "QSY" button to sync my Rx and Tx and manually tune with the VFO to bring stations to the Space and Mark lines on the waterfall. If I see one I want to work I use the QSY again to center the station, let the AFC take over then call the station. As you listen around the bands you will notice some really squeaky sounding signals. This probably means they are transmitting up or down the waterfall from where they are receiving. > Problem is the log. The Robot nag notes will point out what may be wrong; however, the comments are obscure and you have to fix the first problem reported before it will let you move on to others. The first error was the ACCESSED vs. NON-ACCESSED. I had used NON-ASSESSED but the robot did not like the format. I did a copy/paste from nag note and that cleared that issue. The show stopper was I do not recognize '' as a valid QTH. [X] QSO: 14112 RY 2011-09-24 0034 AA5VU 599 04 TX PZ5RA 599 09 Line ignored. and the fix was to change the PZ5RA from "599 09" to "599 09 DX" This was caused by my interpretation of the rules saying the exchange for Non US stations should be "RST + CQ Zone" so that was the way I setup the macro to log the exchange. It never entered my mine to add a "0" in the logged report for Non US stations. Susan, K5DU, sent me a tip to add the "DX" in place of the state. The more I use fldigi in contests, the more I appreciate the efforts of Ed, W3NR, and Dave, W1HKJ.
