I never really get the importance of a logo. From what I understand, we are not going to be 'marketing' flex anymore but plain and simple drive it through word of mouth. So in my humble opinion, we should let the logo be and work towards making flex survivable and viable for future investment (of mainly time).
P.S. In Tamil (my native tongue - An Indian language) there is a saying which roughly translates to 'for every mother, their child is the most beautiful' if people here are ones who really love flex as opposed to afraid their jobs might disappear if flex dies, we will survive. My favorite site for any language I've ever seen is perlmonks.org. That is what I want flex to become.
