They will certainly not completely kill Flex and Flash. As You mentioned, there is too much at stake. If I just think of the SAP Flex Controls, The Oracle Dashboards, I think I have seen a lot in Lotus Notes that all depend on Flex. Simply killing Flash and Flex with it would damage Adobes reputation irreperably. I mean ... who would ever again trust Adobe after something like this.
I would immagine that they hand over the code to some organization like Eclipse or the Apache foundation. If this is the case, I think there will be more benefits of it than there are drawbacks.
