lol, yeah.  port 8500 is the typical port for CF install if not using
IIS/Apache.  Lately I've seen 8300 used too.  Note that if either of these
ports are in use by something, the installer will choose another one.

I like not using IIS/Apache for local development.  One less layer and one
less process eating up cycles/ram.  Also, if you installed CF in multiserver
mode, you can run several instances, one for different sites or projects if
needed and not worry about setting IIS/Apache up for it.
