Rick, CF remoting is supplied by the updater. Flex Data Services remoting is just for java.
If you use only CF (with the updater) you can use the new remoting gateway without the need of FDS. If you want to use FDS with CF remoting then you'll have 2 options, use a merged CF+FDS server or, define your AMF remoting channel at runtime as Mike explained in some list (can't find it right now).
