only FDS has the messaging capabilities...if that is really what your app 
needs. (build a RT chat client, stuff like that) Depending on what you want 
there may be other ways to achieve the same results in CF. For example, I want 
my flex app on one client to initiate a chat session on another. That needs FDS 
to do it efficiently. (polling would work without FDS, but not scale very well)

however we shall see what Scorpio brings (ColdFusion 8). We should see the 
product tour in about a month.
