Thanks Dirk.  That seemed to do the trick.  It didn’t work when I added it to the mm.cfg in the default Documents and Settings location…I had to actually put the mm.cfg file BACK in the ‘My Documents’ location and add your suggested lineto that version of mm.cfg and then it worked.  Very weird.  It worksand there’s no more terrible lag time.  Thanks!

Try adding this to your mm.cfg file (the one in c:\Documents and Settings\myaccount\)

  TraceOutputFileName=c:\flashlog.txt

Is there any way to specify where you would like this file and where the have the debugger look for the mm.cfg file specifically?  It seems to randomly choose in between two locations onmy machine and I can never be sure until I look at the time stamp of the two log files which is the one the debugger is currently using.  The network guys here have set up our local machines so the My Documents on all of our company machines point to a file server system at a remote location at our data center...this seems to be where my flashlog.txt file is being generated...so you can imagine my flex apps take a while to loads because it's writing trace statements acrossed the network to flashlog.txt on the file server at our data center across town.  Sometimes though, it seems to like to write my log file to the default location that all the documentation says it should in c:\Documents and Settings\myaccount\.  I've tried removing the mm.cfg file from the My Documents ! location and then I don't get any log files, even with the mm.cfg still available at the c:\Documents and Settings location...very strange...so I was wondering, instead of letting the flash player decide where to look for this, is there a place to specify exactly where to look and exactly where I want my log file?
