If you're using RemoteObject, you can set the endpoint property to a
remote Flex / Flash Remoting server in the mx:RemoteObject tag. The
default is generated from the url set in the
/WEB-INF/flex/flex-config.xml file, which happens to be a relative URL
by default (to your local machine).

Also, are you aware of the sandbox security restrictions on the Flash
Player 7 plugin and do  you know about crossdomain.xml policy files?
