Hi Michel. I think you need to focus on is what you/your company/your clients challenges are and whether RIA's will provide a satisfactory return on investment that yields a productivity gain.

I view RIA's as the next generation of web based applications; the 'rich' part enables you to create much for fluid and dynamic applications that enable improved workflow and reduced development time resulting in various implicit and explicit cost savings in various forms. In some cases... it may not even be feasible to do in an HTML based interface and your only option is RIA.

If RIA's offer you the edge you need, then you evaluate your choices.
- Flex
- Xamlon
- Laszlo
- Droplets (?)

Determine your evaluation and weighting criteria and eval the options and determine which is right for you. Determining how big the user community is, installed license base, etc... is a worthy criteria - you don't want to be the only one. Eg the Flex Coder's user group is 1645 users, and Laszlo's is 389. I couldn't find any for the other two.

Also, last I saw posted to this group, there were only about
200 licenses sold to date.

I can pretty much certainly state that there have been a *great*
deal more than 200 licenses sold to date, perhaps 200 customers
was cited, but a single customer might purchase anywhere from
10s or 100s of licenses in many instances. And I've only got
visibility of a small proportion of the Flex business that is
being done...

If this is true... Where are all the applications? Is Flex only used for
Intranet purposes??
