Yahoo! Finance uses Flex and they are the most visited financial site on the Web. Fidelity is a heavy user of Flex. The Flex AMF remoting protocol is one of the fastest ways of communicating between a client and a server and plenty of people have done tests to prove this. I agree with Paul that the bottleneck for an app like this is more likely to be the server / database.
