I wouldn't call this 'simple' but I do think your doubts are well founded. Looking at this example, I don't see any real use of Flex. You have what looks like some animated state changes and a few navigation components - skipping Flex in this case might be easier.

I do small and large scale Flash dev, sometimes widgets, sometimes database crunching translation tools. I only use Flex when I am manipulating lots of data records.

BTW gang, don't forget, t's all ActionScript ;)
