The BindUtils doesn't work quite like that. Let's take this MXML snippet:
{model.someObject.name}
The equivalent call to bindSetter would be:
var watcher : ChangeWatcher = BindingUtils.bindSetter(setterFunction, this,
["model","someObject","name"]);
