In a model/view or MVC pattern, widgets don't affect other widgets, they affect they data-model which other widgets then respond to.

We toyed with the idea of doing just what you suggested, but it would be a coding nightmare to force, for example, a new parent node created in one widget to be added to a completely separate ADG in another widget (which has the same hierarchical structure, but displays a different dataset)...unless someone has some ideas on how to implement this easily....
