I don't understand why you would send the entire data set back to your .NET backend via the web service.
The backend has already generated the data to be sent and the backend is what generates the report via Crystal Reports. I would have thought the best way was to send the query back to the back end, get it to do the data lookup again and pass the data into Crystal Reports.
