I've implemented something similar on a project. You need to define dragEnter, dragExit,dragDrop events like so:
addEventListener(DragEvent.DRAG_ENTER, dragEnterHandler); addEventListener(DragEvent.DRAG_EXIT, dragExitHandler); addEventListener(DragEvent.DRAG_DROP, dragDropHandler); And in your dragEnterHandler you can 'accept' the drag and on dragDropHandler add a child to your canvas based on the data being dragged in.
