I did it in Flash utilizing Remoting &
Java and it wasn't an overtly bad first stab, but extremely challenging to
debug. The biggest problem I'd face if I did it again in Flex is the same
problem we had in Flash:
There are no decent, open source Java
spellcheckers. Their dictionaries are stupid, and it'd be faster for me to
learn Java in a week, and write it myself, and post to SourceForge.
Just a note from the trenches, if you can ensure
the text you are getting is plain text, more the merrier. Parsing out
words from HTML (Rich Text), and then turning it back to Rich Text when you're
done with is a royal pain.
I did enjoy using the IteratorImpl class that Flash
had, though, I bet Flex' is better.

Subject: [flexcoders] spell checking Has anyone
integrated a spell checker into their Flex application? I would love to
hear about it, as I have a requirement to do just that.
Thanks in
advance.
