FWIW, you don't have to prompt the user with custom auth. You can simply catch the credentials request then submit the username and password in code. That being said, if the username/pwd is fixed, run-as makes sense. Given Flex's response, it's going with the default behavior of passthrough. Have you reloaded your web app ( or restarted your servlet container ) since changing flex-config.xml?
