I just had some training in FLEX and would agree that it is
a sweet system for building data aware UIs. My only issue with the FLEX
system is that programmers are not UI experts, and probably never
will be. It's a stretch to think the majority of developers will suddenly
take an interest in UI design when they have safely ignored it for decades.
Their job has always been to "make it work". If FLEX has a clean model for
skinning (I haven't explored this) then perhaps it will faciliate more
conversations between designers and developers. If I were an optimist I would
imagine that FLEX would create a more user-centric breed of
programmers.
Speaking for myself, FLEX's proliferation creates
a huge opportunity for designer/developer mutants from the Flash world.
