Are you committed to using a Form? This kind of this is much easier
with a Canvas, which does not try to outthink you, but rather puts
things where you specify. This won't work if you want the visible
controls to flow into the space also occupied by the invisible control
though.

Subject: [flexcoders] Dynamic form layout and hidden FormItem. Is it
possible without doubtful workarounds?

Is there any way to hide some FormItem containers dynamically and show
them
when needed. When I set widht and height to 0 and visible to false it
causes
extra vertical space that is not acceptable to me. You can find the
example
of what I say about below:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.macromedia.com/2003/mxml";>

        <mx:Panel title="Form">

                <mx:Form>

                        <mx:Repeater id="formItemRepeater"
dataProvider="{new Array(30)}">

                                <mx:FormItem width="0" height="0"
visible="false" label="{'Label '+formItemRepeater.currentIndex}">

                                        <mx:TextInput />

                                </mx:FormItem>

                        </mx:Repeater>

                </mx:Form>

        </mx:Panel>

</mx:Application>
