Yeah, Google Groups is a good example. Google pull all the
posts down (like your client would, if you decided to read them) and archive
them for searching. If this list was NNTP, you could read/post/search via Google
groups, and others could use their own clients.
Most nntp clients have powerful filtering/scripting, so you
can highlight replies to your own posts, or those from your friends (or the
likes of people from Adobe, on a list like this), so it makes prioritising your
reading very easy :-)

Michael, NNTP is the news group, kind of like a mailing list but you have to use certail client to read it (ie: outlook express or forte agaent)
Google group is actually transformed from NNTP and become what it is today.

several days ago? I can see it in the mail-archives no problem, but
when I go back to yahoo to post a reply to a message...it's quite the
b*tch to find. I ended up just doing a search on my username and
clicking through all the pages of results and of course it wasn't there.
Yahoo could at least have a link that says "My Posts" or something.
It'd also be nice if the posts were listed out like theserverside.com
(although more stable :-)
Since we're all developing in a slick technology, can't we dump tyhe
legacy forum?
Anyone else feel this way?
