Hey Bruce, As Paul said, i'd assume this is what classes would be used for.
An easy way to implement common methods throughout an application is to have one (or more) static classes that have the common methods within them, as long as you have no need to hold any state or instance variables within the methods and these can be held on the component themselves this would be the best way to go. having the static methods means there is no need to instantiate the class everytime you want to call a method within the class. As long as your method is set up to return to your component exactly what you need you should be fine!
