while the idea of ria's was present even then, Java never did live up
to that promise. It's probably more a matter of "execution" than any
really technological shortcomings in the platform as such I think.
Perhaps bandwith limitations at that time got them distracted...I
don't know.  I doubt whether the JavaFX initiative will change
anything...but then again predicting the future is neither mine nor
anyone else's talent as far as I know.
