I've marked this thread for further investigation someday (probably not this week), but I wouldn't be surprised if the classConstruct runs before the Style block is installed, and I think the Style block code won't replace one that is already there.

No, I'm saying that I get the default style (as hard coded into classConstruct) even though I have a style sheet that gives a different style too all instances of the TestStyleComponent class). > When classConstruct gets run is sort of black magic. I took the pattens from http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/201/html/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhel p.htm?context=LiveDocs_Book_Parts&file=skinstyle_149_7.html so they should be right. > Either way, styleName (class selectors) always overrides type selectors Yup, and you can see this work in the code I gave - the 2nd instance of the TestStyleComponent has a styleName, and correctly applies the custom styles to itself - which means the code is working, I think. Which is then odd as to why the first one doesn't work right. -- Tom Chiverton Helping to efficiently entrench end-to-end e-tailers on: http://thefalken.livejournal.com **************************************************** This email is sent for and on behalf of Halliwells LLP.
