Macs are not expensive. Sure, you pay a premium for design if you buy the higher end stuff but a Mac Mini can be had quite inexpensively. Not to mention the countless used and refurbished machines on sale in many outlets. I personally own a Mac, and bought my first Mac (iBook G4) in college with my own cold hard cash at an excellent price. I can honestly say it was the best decision I made regarding OS switches. I still use Windows at work for compatibility reasons, but any and all freelance I do is on my Mac. I run Flex Builder 3, Photoshop, Terminal, Subethaedit and Firefox for development. I even have unix tools installed such as Nessus and tcpdump.
I don't mean to come off as an evangelist, as I strongly believe anything with a text editor and a FTP client is equal, but to count the Mac out on account of price is rather invalid. On a side note, when I went to the onAIR Bus Tour event all of the Adobe folks and most of the attendees had Macs. ;) -- William --- In [email protected], Tom Chiverton <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > On Wednesday 16 Jan 2008, George wrote: > > If you don't like Windows, go for a Mac, > > As the OP pointed out, Macs are very very expensive. > > -- > Tom Chiverton > Helping to appropriately enhance prospective market-growth > on: http://thefalken.livejournal.com > > **************************************************** > > This email is sent for and on behalf of Halliwells LLP. > > Halliwells LLP is a limited liability partnership registered in England and Wales under registered number OC307980 whose registered office address is at Halliwells LLP, 3 Hardman Square, Spinningfields, Manchester, M3 3EB.
