The Mac Mini is too slow to develop on, but, to compare apples with apples, I 
could buy a Shuttle mini-pc for much less than a Mac mini...

I can buy a cheap 2nd hand PC too, spec-for-spec it'll be cheaper than a 2nd 
hand Mac.

Depends on how much cash you have to spend really.
If I can get the same performance on a cheaper Linux box, with a similar level 
of user experience, why not do that ?
