You can connect to SQL Server 2005 directly (even without IIS
or Apache). You need to open HTTP ENDPOINT for your SQL Server. (with
"create http endpoint.") and you need to define SOAP webmetod (as a stored
procedure). If your security consideration permit to open batches from SQL
Server 2005, you can define into your endpoint batches .

In the client side (flex) you need to define WebServices for
your endpoint.

Subject: RE: [flexcoders] How to connect SQL SERVER 2005 using FLEX?

Consider using dot.net as an integration tier. Establish a consistent
communication pattern between your flex client and the server-side tier, and
you will simplify future access to other data sources, avoid crossdomain
problems, and have a ready platform to handle business logic that is not
suitable for the client.
