I have been silent on charging for software updates because I am a Flex newbe.
I have only had my new 3000 on the air since last Thursday. I have no dog in
this, but I will in the future.

Managing software development cost against customer satisfaction has been the
topic in many of my Technology Management doctoral courses at Indiana State.

My point is simply this, nobody expects that they should be entitled to a new
copy of Win 7 just because they own a copy of DOS 2.0.

On the other hand, it is reasonable to expect free bug fixes and feature
additions to the original software via updates.

When a new and different software package is produced to run my radio, I expect
to pay an upgrade fee for it. Until then, I expect that support updates to the
software I paid for with the rig will be free.

This model has served Microsoft and others effectively. I think the Flex folks
should consider it.

Thanks for a great rig at a great price;

Eric
