I have had to replace the diodes in the output bridge for the K2 at our
school several times. It took me awhile to get it through my head that EMP
from the lightning we DO get was taking out the diodes. Adding a proper
gas-gap to the feedline to the antenna at the base of the tower for EMP
protection solved the problem. The point -- moving to California is no fix.
The problem still exists. No matter where you are, you have to deal with the
issues of EMP.
