I use two Astrons, an RS35M and a VS50M. Both have hum, but it's completely
lost in the computer fan noise so I don't notice it at all.

Neither has a fan and both have run for 15 years with no problems.

Subject: [FlexEdge] O/T - Need Power Supply Suggestions (Please Read
MyRequirments)

  Hello Flexers,
I have searched the archives but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I
need a good power supply for my 5000A.

I am currently using a MFJ 4245MV. It does a good job at its primary
function of providing power; however, after years of listening to the LOUD
fan, I am looking for something that will be silent.

I know that many recommend the linear Astron supplies (RM20, RM30, RM70
etc); however, I have no idea how quiet they are.

  My requirements:
  1. Its operation is SILENT!!!!
2.Output voltage adjustable (at least between about 10 and 14 volts)
  3. Provides 30 to 40 amps output continuous
  4. Has no RF noise/hash within the Ham Bands

I could probably live with a fan that was temperature controlled and only
came on when the unit got hot.

  Any suggestions?

  73,
  Tim K8XS
