Ok - I was prepared for that answer. ;-) > Maybe if you are the CEO, or on the Board of Directors, then you should > expect this information from your staff. Ahem, no, there I have to disagree. I am publishing roadmap information on product features to our customers. I even get new customers because I do - due to the simple fact that they can judge if the roadmap fits their needs. If not they're telling us. Very much so! > A competitive company will not make public such a roadmap of their future > plans. Huh - of course they do. A competitive company ties customers to it because customers know what's next - I am not speaking of a three-year business plan, I am talking about a product roadmap of a one year scope. > I'm doubt you expect this from Icom, Kenwood, Yaesu, Ten Tec, Toyota, GM, > Ford, Apple, Not even Flex. Sure I do. Not that all those companies open up their plans. Automotive companies do it - they even share plans with their competitors. Similarities are then known as commodities - which then allows competitive positioning by strengthening non-commodity features. It drives diversification. Ok, enough of that ... > Flex has been very open on their plans, but their are limits. Have they? Which plans? > Just because buy a company's product does not give you a right to that > companies propriatory business plan information. I don't want to know how much sales they want to do or how much profit they plan to make or even actually make. I want to know when a desired feature I am waiting for is planned to be released. That's an entirely different thing! > I don't know if DI is still in the works or not, frankly I doubt it. But > who knows? Hopefully upgrades will continue to the current PowerSDR. But > a roadmap of the future is not expected. > > John N3WT I am still hoping for a roadmap - even if it's only a clear statement on DI like "DI is actively in development. We are dedicating several resources to it and plan to release a first version in Q2 2012. This first release will be supporting Windows as a platform only and will have the features PSDR has a s of today. Newer features that are developed in PSDR starting today will be migrated to DI in a second release." Again, it's FRS business and FRS is up to decide (and communicate). To be clear: I am expressing wishes, hopes, that's all. I am not saying that FRS is required to do so. 73 Frank DG1SBG > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Frank Goenninger <[email protected]> > To: flexedge Edge <[email protected]> > Sent: Mon, 19 Sep 2011 13:54:43 -0000 (UTC) > Subject: Re: [FlexEdge] Re - Deep Impact > > Hi Neal, > > I'd expect a clear product roadmap with features assigned to releases - and > one that is adhered to if no significant issue is speaking against it.
