Howard: The power connection on a Firewire card is only necessary if you want to externally power the FW device FROM the firewire cable. This is typically for external hard disks, etc. None of the FLEX-Series radios require external power so no need to connect to that power connector on your firewire card.
Also, thanks for the data on the TI-based Firewire cards. We wholeheartedly agree the TI chipset is the best for streaming audio applications. The ones we sell on our store site are TI-based. Hope that helps! 73, Greg - K5GJ On Wed, Nov 23, 2011 at 8:37 AM, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: > >> Jeff, >> >> Thanks for sharing your experiences. >> >> I do not have any spare normal internal power connectors in this >> computer. >> >> Does the Bytecc model NEED the power connection, or can it operate from >> the PCIe provided power? >> >> I am thinking of buying the SYBA SD-PEX-FWB >> According to SYBA's website it uses a TI chipset and supports Windows 7. >> >> Howard >> >> On 11/21/2011 19:55, Jeff DePolo wrote: >>>> >>>> Hi, >>>> >>>> What is the latest recommended firewire cards for flex-5000, >>>> windows-7 >>>> and pci-express? >>>> >>>> Howard >>> >>> I just went down this road last weekend after building a new machine for >>> the >>> shack.
