John, I've been using my THP 2.5K and Flex 5000A for several years with no issues.
I also used my PW1 for a while. Now that may have been a mistake. At the time, I didn't know of any way to make the PW1 change bands in sync with the 5000A. So, of course, late one night during a contest, I changed to 20 meters on the FLEX but forgot to change the PW1. It only cost about $1,200 for the repairs and about $200 or so for shipping. I have since tested DDUtil with the PW1 and it works fine. Steve was even nice enough to include some of suggestions, like being able to limit the Flex output power when using the PW1, and it seems very stable. Still....if I had a choice, I would use an amp like the THP that can change bands natively with the Flex. 73, Tim K8XS -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of John Molenda Sent: Wednesday, September 26, 2012 12:50 PM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: [FlexEdge] Is it ok to use a solid state amp Hello , I saw somewhere that there was a problem when using a flex with a solid state amp . I am considering to purchase a solid state amp to use with my flex 5000 and would like to avoid any issues before I get into trouble . So I would be interested to know if there are people out there having good luck running a solid state amp with there flex radio . thanks John Molenda kb2huk _______________________________________________ Flexedge mailing list [email protected] http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexedge_flex-radio.biz This is the FlexRadio Systems e-mail Reflector called FlexEdge.
