Not really their responsibility to ensure that people use secure passwords
and don't click on links. One assumes a level of responsibility by the
email address holder to maintain his own security and his own common sense
when clicking on obscure and sometimes downright obvious phishing attacks.
It only has to start with one person with an insecure password to affect the
rest of the members of the mailing list - as soon as an address book become
compromised every person in that address book gets targeted and it spirals
out of control. Clicking on malware links that also install malware and
attack ware can be protected from by simply using up to date antimalware and
antivirus software.

The mail server used by flex does a very good job of scanning for malware,
but you cannot catch them all, all of the time. Some attacks are zero-day
attacks and it takes time for those libraries and virus definitions to get
updated. All it takes is one NEW attack to be clicked on within the day of
release and it gets through the system - perhaps being caught the next day
as new definitions arrive in daily updates.

Bottom line, if you use email then you need to take responsibility for its
security. If you use the internet, it's time to brush up on what the script
kiddies are up to when trying to steal your data. Don't trust anyone.
Don't trust email if it comes from a trusted source - they could have been
compromised too.

And I know it's common for people to disable Antivirus and Antimalware when
using PowerSDR - it reduces latency. But just make sure you re-enable it
before you load up your mail client or start browsing again. And remember
that anything that uses an embedded browser like HRD is still vulnerable,
just like IE, Firefox and any other browser. If connected to the internet.
Protect yourself.
