Michael,

Let’s make sure that we’re on the same page here.  You still have 2 options for operating digital modes:

  1. You can use a second sound card and connect up the wires as described in the Delta 44 Quick Start Guide. –OR-
  2. You can use the VAC for a completely digital approach.

#2 gives you several advantages in that you don’t have a second set of A/D, D/A hookups.  This should improve your signal to noise ratio as well as eliminating possible RFI issues and just plain confusion, not to mention cables going bad, coming unplugged, etc.

#1 is still a fine option for those that have a second sound card and are willing to deal with the wiring.  #2 is just a cleaner solution, hands down.  As someone who does first line support for setting up digital modes, I MUCH prefer #2.

Subject: [Flexradio] Second sound card option in Beta view 2

May I ask, what was the reasoning behind adding VAC support in lieu of the 2nd sound card option?  Was it not possible to optionally allow the selection of either the 2nd sound card or VAC?

I am currently using the software with a new SR-40 and expect to acquire my SDR-1000 in the Christmas time frame.  The radio and the PowerSDR software are nothing short of amazing!

This is really putting a spark back into my 48 year ham radio hobby.

Thanks - Mike - K9JRI
