Jerry,

I have two QRO amplifiers (ALPHA-77 SX & Henry 4K-Ultra). Both are capable
of going beyond the legal limit and both have ALC provisions. However, I
don't use them. I limit my power with the SDR-1000.

The power out of the SDR-1000 doesn't overshoot like many or the other
transceivers do when one tries to limit output..

I also have a home brew 4-1000 that I drive with full power from the
SDR-1000 to get about 1,200 watts out... no ALC.

I had a FL-7000 and never used ALC. I think you can safely operate the
Quadra without ALC.

Jerry,

Unfortunately, there is not a hardware ALC input on the SDR-1000. We do
have quite a few people using amplifiers with our rig though. Maybe others
could pipe up and tell you how they have their ALC setup (assuming their
amps have that option).
