Dave,

Here another hint. Plug your headphone or speaker directly into the phone 
connector of your MP3+ and press TUNE on the console. Now you should hear a 
tone with a frequency corresponding to your setting  in the 
Setup/DSP/Keyer/CW pitch. The tone must vary in frequency when scrolling the 
setting of the cw pitch up and down. The QSD IC2 needs this tone to create a 
carrier and and low impedance speaker or head phone will attenuate the 
required signal from the soundcard.
I am using the MP3+ since three years for cw and phone while waiting for the 
ultimate soundcard. To avoid said attenuation I use ahead of my speakers a 
stereo amplifier with high input impedance.
