Yes you do have to buy it. Never ever use the demo version of VAC with
PowerSDR.

many thanks ray. top notch advice. current, too.

i've got some work to do to get this thing flying for 21st century contesting.

the hamshack pc is running 'xP-media edition'   dual core intel w 6 m L-2 cache,
3 m ram, decent video, firewire IRQ not shared (best i can tell...)

FIRST i need to wire up a mike ....then tweak the F3K tx audio for dx...
i work 160m cw 99% of the time..ssb will be a real zoo in cqww on 160...dying
to see how this receiver holds up at 'crunch time'...
though ssb IS less demanding than cw.

so, i will need VAC also, right ? and i'll have to buy it to get the dumb voice
off, too ??

and, i still need to rig some externally switched relays for separte rx
only antennas.

WAS planning to go to W5WMU and use the multiple hi yagis on 40, but no go this
time.

Dan,

I have NEVER been able to get N1MM'a voice keyer to work with PowerSDR.  It
seems to only work with the PC soundcard.  That is why I wrote my VoiceKeyer
program.  Otherwise, I love N1MM & use it for all operating, not just
contests.  I generally keep it up to date with the latest revision, currently
v9.10.2.

com0com is much better than N8VBcom.  N8VB has stopped working on his serial
port emulator & the configuration tool did not work properly under Vista the
last time I tried it.

However, Steve Nance, K5FR, has written a new virtual serial port manager based
on the Eltima serial driver.  I have been beta testing it for about a month
with no problems.  I highly recommend it over com0com.  It works well & is very
easy to use.  Like com0com, it is free.  To download, go to:

http://k5fr.com/ddutilwiki/index.php?title=VSP_Manager

Be sure to carefully follow the installation instructions on the website.

What OS are you using?  My VoiceKeyer program has been used successfully on XP,
Vista (32-bit), & Windows 7 (32-bit).  There have been some issues running it
on 64-bit operating systems.  Unfortunately, I do not have the capability of
debugging in a 64-bit environment.  Also, you MUST download and install the
Microsoft DirectX v9 Runtime.  Links are provided on my website.

Hope to work you in the 'test this weekend.
