Hallo Flexers,

My equipment: Flex 5000A, PSDR 18.5, XP-3, back to VAC 4.9 (4.10 not
working!)

I am using / testing with different digital-mode programs: Fldigi, HRD, Mix
W, WSPR, RMS Express etc.
Certain parts of the settings (i.e. Cat and some others) in the Power SDR
"Setup-Console" are different from each other and depending of the digimode
program.
.
After updating PSDR from 18.3 to 18.5 and setting up a new database file
based on the settings of Fldigi, I intend to do the following;

a) creating different database folder, one for each of my digimode programs
(i.e. "Database Mix W", "Database Fldigi" etc)
b) adjust the settings to the requirements of a specific digimode program
   (i.e. Mix W, WSPR )
c) after checking / testing these settings, I copy and paste the adjusted
database.xml
file in the corresponding database folder
(database.xml originally setup for Fldigi now adjusted to Mix W or WSPR
or HRD) d) in the "Setup Console" there is a button "Import". Using this
button I search / open
and import the database file corresponding to my digimode program. (i.e.
WSPR)
e) this import "overwrites" the existing database file
(i.e. Fldigi settings will be replaced by the WSPR settings)
e) I start the digimode program WSPR with the correct settings for this
program.

Now a few questions concerning this intended procedure:
- is it technically safe to do so? Hardware / Firmware not endangered?
- what happens if I mix up the folders: importing Mix W instead of WSPR.
WSPR will not work properly but are there any other, hidden side effects?
- what happens if I import a database of a previous version of PSDR: the
settings of
  Fldigi 18.3 instead of Fldigi 18.5 ?
- Note: if the above mentioned procedure works safely, some enhancements
would
be very useful: an "Export" function; a version / folder check to avoid
mix ups and
??? (do you have some further ideas?)
- are there other ways to do the same thing (i.e. Database-transfer
Utility) ?
- I have tried the "Profiler" but it does not handle digimode settings.
- I know, there is "DDutil". This utility seems to handle up to 4 digimode
programs and
much much more. But my rig is very simple: Transceiver, Computer,
Longwire:
would it be worthwhile installing it?
