I think it makes a lot of sense to be able to drop a reference into the wikitext that indicates that an attachment should be rendered inline.
I don't like the full URL syntax because then users are baking the server name into pages; I would much rather have something like Topic/Attachment.ext syntax. One note: how will spaces in attachment names be handled? Users will definitely try and do that (at least my users will!) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Pascal Normandin Sent: Thursday, April 12, 2007 4:24 PM To: 'FlexWiki Users Mailing List' Subject: Re: [Flexwiki-users] Attachments progress report Initially it was planned to be a property of the attachment that would say if an image attachment is to be rendered as a link or inline. Rethinking of this creates doubts in my mind. I no longer think this should be handled at the attachment level, imo it should be handled at the referring topic level via a new format. This would allow topics to link to the same image attachment and decide how it will be rendered. What do you think ? and what format do you think we should use ? Currently the attachment format is Topic/Attachment.ext Also we can still use the full url to the image to display it i.e. http://www.flexwiki/default.aspx/Namespace/Topic/Attachment.jpg PAscal -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jimmy Sieben Sent: April 11, 2007 11:26 PM To: FlexWiki Users Mailing List Subject: Re: [Flexwiki-users] Attachments progress report Will it be possible to attach an image to a topic, and have that rendered inline with the topic text? That would be a very common use case I suspect. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of David Ornstein Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 10:10 PM To: FlexWiki Users Mailing List Subject: Re: [Flexwiki-users] Attachments progress report Very cool! -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Pascal Normandin Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 7:53 PM To: FlexWiki Users Mailing List Subject: [Flexwiki-users] Attachments progress report Hello, I've been working on the attachment feature over the last few months with a slow but steady pace. Here is the status of the implementation for the various modules. *UI* The attachments management page ( Attachments.aspx ) was created and provides the functionality to add new attachments with summary and display the current topic's attachments. The attachments are displayed in a list with the name, author, modification date and summary. *Link to attachments* the url of an attachment has the following format default.aspx/Namespace/Topic/Attachment.ext *Content providers* Currently all the implementation is done only using the file system content provider. *Formatting rules (parsing)* The following formats are properly parsed /Attachment.ext Topic/Attachment.ext Namespace.Topic/Attachment.ext [Topic]/Attachment.ext Topic/[Attachment name.ext] Relabeling is supported A tooltip with the author, last modification date and summary is displayed when mouse is over the attachment link *Wikitalk *The Attachments property is available from a TopicInfo object. *Topic version *Nothing done.* **Search** *Nothing done. *WebService** *Nothing done. *Administration** *Nothing done. Next things I'm going to work on: How attachments create new topic revisions for newsletters and RSS feeds. Delete an attachment Display and access attachment revisions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
