It is possible to have it on a different server. You need to have the
connection string point to the remote server as I noted.
It is not possible to just create tables. there are a number 10-12 of them,
with referential integrity, and various validity checks (guids are used as
key values) and a number of stored procedures. Additionally there is
encryption involved in storing the password as a hashed value.
I recognize that it is a bit difficult for someone not used to SQL Server.
Even just using the web.config file is not straight forward if you want a
degree of real security (must use a special page to create the password hash
and then copy that value to the web.config file).
As I note it gets extremely easy for that portion in Windows 2008 (other
bits are considerably different from what you currently know to make those
seem tough).
