I've got some papers on floatplane design. Always thought it would be interesting. However, you'd have to allow for the aircraft crashing or sinking and the scene getting bluer and bluer and then blacker. :-) Yes, I think this is a good idea. On a somewhat related note: For those high altitude aircraft, would it be possible to: 1) Darken the sky considerably at higher (40-60 mile) altitudes? 2) Use a textured sphere to model the earth?
