I should point out that I think of the "lookat" view from a fixed point as the `remote control' view, since the pilot is always watching his aircraft, while the "lookfrom" view not following aircraft is the `tower controller' view, since the controller is generally watching several aircraft and has to visually find each one in turn to keep track of them.
