Nearly every Linux (and probably FreeBSD) user is in windowed mode on any modern 3D hardware. I agree that we shouldn't privilege Linux over other OS's, but we shouldn't dismiss it either. I've had horrible experiences trying windowed mode with 3D programs under Windows, so I know where Norm's coming from, but it's not really a problem in our world.
