Actually the offsets that need to be set are not pilot-view. They are defined in the model. See http://www.flightgear.org/Docs/fgfs-model-howto.html#repositioning in the mini-howto for models. Unfortunately though this doesn't seem to be working right now and I'd guess the problem is likely in the model code. For larcsim the entries should go into c172-larcsim-set.xml.
