If you were flaring, you were probably close enough to the ground to
survive (i.e. less than 10ft), though with some damage to the shuttle.
Otherwise, I doubt any aircrew could survive a sudden 100kt tailwind
during an approach any fixed-wing aircraft -- I don't know of any
plane that approaches at more than 100kt above its stall speed.
